1.2m Tri-Band Motorized Tripod FlyAway Antenna

The 1.2m Tri-Band Motorized Tripod FlyAway Antenna is a new take on an antenna AvL has been producing for many years. This ruggedized terminal operates on a lightweight one-piece tripod that easily unfolds and anchors for a quick set-up. Once the tripod is in place the positioner attaches quickly with hooks and locks, and the positioner includes and I/O panel with connectors. The offset 1.2m reflector flexible removes from the positioner to enable a compact pack-up. The antenna packs into two IATA-compliant airline checkable cases.

The 1.2m military flyaway antenna family includes the following models:

  • Model 1.2m 1030-T is a tri-band Ka-, Ku- or X-band antenna system that packs into two IATA compliant cases; the tripod is one piece for quick assembly and the positioner includes an I/O panel
  • Model 1.2m 1030 FA DBS antenna operates in DBS, Ku-, Ka- and X bands; the antenna is configured with a tripod or case-based and packs in two cases
  • Model 1.2m 1230-T is a tri-band Ka-, Ku- or X-band antenna system that packs into two IATA compliant cases; the tripod is one piece for quick assembly and the positioner includes an I/O panel. This terminal is currently in ARSTRAT Ka Phase 3 and Inmarsat Category 1 and 4
  • Model 1.2m 1220 is available with a case-mounted or tripod-mounted positioner and a segmented carbon fiber offset reflector. This antenna is available in L-band.                 

As of 2023, AvL has produced 4,000+ 1.2m 1030-T Rugged FlyAway antennas and they’re in operation around the world. The core 1.2m 1030 antenna is used by primes on many U.S. Army and SOCOM Programs of Record, and customer versions have been ARSTRAT certified for 10+ years. To celebrate the milestone, all AvL employees signed an antenna that we’ve showcased at industry events throughout 2023.

AAQ Controller
AvL’s AAQ Antenna Controller is a flexible, cost‑effective embedded control system designed for transportable satellite antennas operating in harsh environments. Its compact pedestal‑mounted architecture streamlines cabling and supports a broad range of antenna types while enabling fully automatic acquisition—including one‑button deploy/acquire and automated azimuth, elevation, and cross‑polarization peaking. Integrated GPS, electronic compass, and attitude sensors with auto‑compensation ensure accurate pointing, and a built‑in receiver provides precise peaking on satellite beacons or live data carriers. Customer‑configurable target profiles, OpenAMIP support, and both Web‑based and .NET GUI control interfaces give users a flexible, modern operating environment tailored for rapid and reliable operation.
