4.6m Multi-Band FlyAway Antenna

AvL's 4.6m multi-band high-gain motorized flyaway antenna is a custom design. This antenna was designed at the request of a key customer and several versions were developed to for specific applications. The antenna's multi-band operation capabilities are custom, as is the pack-up, which was designed to be air freightable by a commercial carrier. The antenna can be assembled by four people in less than three hours with standard operation in C-band and optional operation in Ku-, Ka-, X-, S- or S/L-band, or C-band troposcatter. The antenna is motorized with auto-acquisition and can operate in 30 mph (48 kph) winds with gusts to 65 mph (105 kph). The standard configuration antenna packs into 24 air-freightable cases excluding feeds.

Key features:
  • Packs into 24 cases (excluding feeds)
  • Cases are 2-man lift and stack onto 4 pallets for air freight
  • Can be assembled by a 4-person team in less than 3 hours
  • 4.6m axi-symmetric ADE 17-piece carbon fiber reflector
  • Standard feed: either 4-Port standard C-band (CP or LP) or C-band INSAT band
  • AvL AAQ Auto-Acquire Antenna Control System with one-buton auto-acquire
  • Zero Backlash AvL Cable Drive positioner for azimuth
  • Machine screw for elevation
  • Compact rugged polarization gear drive; polarization managed with rotation of feed
  • Rotary joint on pol axis
